Presenting the Center for Legal Aid for Children in Plovdiv

Toda, at an information day at the Youth Center, Plovdiv, the activities of the Center for Counseling and Legal Assistance for Children were presented. The center was created within the framework of the “Specialized services for children in conflict or contact with the law” project and has been operating since April last year.

The project manager briefly presented to the participants what had been achieved so far – the analyzes and studies carried out, the reports prepared, the information events held, trainings and workshops, the partnerships created and agreements signed, focusing in detail on the stages through which the process of implementing the social service developed.

With a presentation, Dimitar Rusinov followed the activities of the Center, emphasizing the profile of the children, the reasons for their falling into this target group, as well as specific cases that show important trends in the Roma community.

The presentations aroused interest and provoked comments from both representatives of the institutions and young Roma who attended the information event. They were interested in the work of the Center’s specialists, the methods they used to work with children, their approaches to problems and, above all, the results achieved.

The project is financed by the Justice Program of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and aims to introduce and develop an effective integrated approach aimed at improving the status and opportunities of children in contact with the law in three Roma communities in Bulgaria – Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Lom. The leading organization of the project is Crime Prevention Fund IGA, and partners in its implementation are the Roma-Lom Foundation, the Roma Regional Development Foundation, Plovdiv and Save a child, Norway.
